May Consultation Meetings

Friday, 09 July 2010 09:32

In May BXL's CEO chaired two well attended Head Teachers, Principals and 14-19 Network Manager Consultation meetings. The purpose of these meetings was to understand their Work Related Learning and Work Experience curriculum requirements and ensure that the BXL service continues to be customer- focused and deliver against priority needs. These senior management feedback opportunities are held twice a year across a range of participants, allowing for direct input to BXL's development as well as acting as an alternative network.
These consultations are informing BXL's 2010/11 service planning and indeed has led to the creation of a number of programmes that we will be communicating with you about at the atart of the 2010/11 academic year.

 Ideas generated from the Consultation Meetings;

Strategic Themes

  • For BXL to act as a social enterprise support mechanism for the area, and look for opportunities to help other similar organisations with the current funding and business challenges
  • For all of our services for educators, to ensure wherever we can we accredit outcomes
  • Create more work related learning with significant employers in a structured and timetabled format
  • Develop for the next academic year ‘out of school hours' professional development support for teaching professionals
  • BXL to become an accredited training provider to fill a need in the market for socially and mainstream provision aware partners
  • Continue our theme of finding innovative ways to use existing school facilities to reach into the community, such as the ‘Big Idea' theme we created with the Chamber and the MET recently

Practical Programmes

  • Raising Participation age programme
  • Special Schools package
  • Package to support STEM subjects
  • Twilight Continuing Professional Development (CPDs) and Professional Development Placement (PDPs)
  • BXL to act as an accredited Education centre (BTEC)
  • Accredited Foundation learning programme
  • Accreditation of Partnership Centres activities
